Chairman Li Yong attended the Asia-Europe Leader High-Level Economic and Financial Conference and made a Speech, Rome Italy

Asia-EuropeLeader High-Level Economic and Financial Conference was held in Rome, the capitalof Italy, on December 5. Chairman Li Yong was invited as a distinguished guestto attend the conference and made an impromptu speech. The theme of thisconference is “Asia-Europe Leaders Cooperation Dialogue”, which aims to promoteeconomic exchanges and cooperation between Asia and Europe and with the rest ofthe world, and promote the development of new Asia-Europe partnerships.

ZhouXiaochuan, the former Vice Chairman of the CPPCC and Vice President of BoaoForum for Asia, mentioned in his keynote speech that the “Declaration of G20 Summitof the Buenos Aires Summit” provided a new impetus to reshape the globalization,and all countries should adhere to the multilateralism, promote the WTO reform,strengthen the construction of global financial security network, promote theconstruction of “the Belt and Road Initiative”, accelerate interconnection andpromote a new round of globalization. Asia and Europe have close positions inreshaping globalization and reforming the international economic order, andshare enormous cooperation potential. Asia and Europe should strengthencooperation and contribute to the strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusivegrowth of the world economy.

RomanoProdi, former President of European Commission and former Italian Prime Minister,expressed that the economic globalization provided strong impetus for the worldeconomic growth; and stressed that “the Belt and Road Initiative” was in linewith our common development goal, and Europe should strengthen pragmaticcooperation with China and Asia.

Importantissues of this conference included “the Belt and Road Initiative”, digitaleconomy and sustainable development. About 300 political and businessrepresentatives from 15 countries and regions attended the conference.

Duringthe conference, Chairman Li Yong also had a cordial conversation with new andold friends and took a group photo with them, including Romano Prodi, formerPresident of European Commission and former Italian Prime Minister; Esko Aho, formerPrime Minister of Finland; Zhou Xiaochuan, former Vice Chairman of the CPPCCand Vice President of Boao Forum for Asia; Li Baodong, Secretary-General ofBoao Forum for Asia; Bianchi, Italian Minister of Culture and Tourism; and Mandelson,former British First Secretary of State. At the same time, Chairman Li Yong alsotook the time to accept the exclusive interview from Europe Station of PhoenixSatellite TV.
