On July 19th, Boao Forum for Asia held a clean energy international cooperation symposium in Changsha. Chairman Li Yong was invited to attend as a distinguished guest and deliver a keynote speech together with Viktor Zubkov, the former Russian prime minister and chairman of Gazprom and other famous people at home and abroad. Li Baodong, the secretary general of Boao Forum for Asia, directors of the Forum, and representatives of well-known enterprises at home and abroad attended the symposium. Xu Lin, the chairman of China-US Green Fund, presided over the meeting.

Participants discussed topics such as new ideas and measures of enterprises in the process of promoting green and clean energy transformation, promoting clean use of coal through scientific and technological innovation, development prospects and international cooperation of engines fueled by natural gas, and energy transformation to promote sustainable development so as to provide brainstorm ideas and make suggestions on jointly strengthening international cooperation on clean energy and promoting global green and low-carbon sustainable development.

Chairman Li Yong gave a keynote speech, indicating that domestic traditional energy enterprises should deeply understand and actively adapt to the general trend of energy revolution or transformation, plan the transformation and clean development of enterprises in accordance with the national goal of building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system, and fully incorporate them into the enterprise development strategy; thoroughly implement the development concept of “innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing”, highlight factors such as resource conservation, environmental friendliness and innovation drive, strengthen strategic planning and top-level design, clarify strategic objectives, strategic priorities and strategic steps, formulate specific measures that are visible, tangible and easy to operate, and steadily promote clean transformation.

Secretary-General Li Baodong pointed out that the development of new energy and clean energy had become a broad consensus and key strategy of all countries in the world. It is of great significance to promote the development of clean energy and international cooperation and learn from each other at present. Realizing the transformation from traditional energy to clean energy was not only the only way for sustainable development, but also the need to achieve sustainable development goals, cope with climate change and promote stable economic development. Boao Forum for Asia will actively promote international cooperation in clean energy, strive to build an open, inclusive community of destiny, and contribute to the realization of more powerful, green and healthy sustainable development.

Participants believed that energy had always played a vital role in economic and social development in international economic cooperation. The development of clean energy was advancing by leaps and bounds with the progress of science and technology, and the production of green hydrogen required large-scale industrial manufacturing, which would bring a foundation for numerous international cooperation. Natural gas played a special role in the field of energy, and the international cooperation based on natural gas was continuously improved. Boao Forum for Asia is a great platform for promoting international cooperation in clean energy.
