President Li Yong was Invited to Attend the “Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue”Special Meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia and toDeliver a speech

On December 3,the Boao Forum for Asia held the “Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue” onlinespecial meeting. As a diamond member of Boao Forum, President Li Yong wasinvited to attend and to deliver a speech entitled the “Economic recovery afterthe epidemic will open up a broad space for Asia Europe cooperation”, which waswidely praised by all participants.More than 20 former ministerial-levelofficials, central bank governors, heads of relevant internationalinstitutions, envoys to China, and heads of member companies of the Boao Forumfor Asia from Asia and Europe conducted lively and in-depth discussions onimportant issues such as the impact of the epidemic on globalization, thereshaping of the global financial system, and the outlook for the Asia-Europeeconomy.

The meeting washeld against the background of the spread ofCOVID-19, which is having a majorimpact on the functioning of the world economy and the global governancesystem.All participants agreed that the epidemic has once again highlighted theimportance of reviving multilateralism and strengthening internationalcooperation.At a time when globalization is encountering counter current,Sino-US friction is intensifying, and global governance is facing challenges,it is more important than ever to strengthen Asia-Europe dialogue andcooperation.Asia and Europe should join hands to fight the epidemic, promoteeconomic recovery andthe improvement of global governance mechanisms.

Afterthe meeting, Li Baodong, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary-Generalof Boao Forum for Asia, wrote a special letter to President Li Yong. Heexpressed his heartfelt thanks to President Li Yong for taking time out of hisbusy schedule to attend the special meeting of “Asia-Europe CooperationDialogue” and making speeches and putting forward valuable suggestions. Hehoped that both sides would continue to maintain close contact and carry outin-depth cooperation in the future.
